How I Shot It - Stella

We met up with Stella later in the day for our second shoot of Tuesday night. I had scoped this location earlier for Shane to set up his new Lexus LC500, and we would shoot it there. Having the ferris wheel in the background was neat.

What was crazy is, we set this up and started shooting at 9:50PM. By 9:55 they turned off the ferris wheel, so we only got a handful of shots with it lit. That was disappointing! But we still made it work thanks to the quick set up of the magmod stuff.

You’ll note that I used a pretty slow shutter of 1/30 sec. The slower shutter allows more of the natural ambient light to be included in the photo, making it more interesting. A faster shutter speed, say 1/200, would have made the background basically black.

For this I used a 1 flash set up. This included a Godox AD200 on a Manfrotto Nano Stand with a Magmod Sphere to help with diffusion.

Settings:

Nikon Z8 @ ISO 100 , 1/30sec

Nikon Z 50 1.2 @ 1.2

The second shot was the same concept, one camera and one flash and the 50 1.2. No ferris wheel lights by this point so we shot the opposite direction on the street.
